Forthcoming on Julia Child: the Spy, the Student, the Master
By JULIETTE ROSSANT Here is some good news: the grand-nephew of Paul and Julia Child, Alex Prud'homme, will be completing Julia's reminiscences of Paul during their early years together in France, 1948-1954, according to yesterday's edition of the International Herald Tribune. It was a time of transformation for Julia, from spy for the Central Intelligence Agency back in its early glory days as the Office of Strategic Services, to lowly student at the Cordon Bleu cooking school in Paris under the "horrid" Madame Brassard, to French-speaking French cooking instructor. I can hardly wait to read it: Bon Appetit: My Life with Paul in France, which should be forthcoming from Random House's Knopf imprint if Julia's long-time editor, Judith Jones has anything to say about the matter (and she does). (BTW, here is a great obit on Julia.) |
