Elections East 2: Washington Sports Night
By JULIETTE ROSSANT ![]() When you live in Washington, DC, politics is the main sport. Tonight of all nights you can expect bars and restaurants to bedeck every angle with TVs and those TVs to be tuned into the national elections. Washington's The Hill reported extensively on the scene. Bill Butler, managing partner of the Capital Grille, said his restaurant is tuned into election coverage -- sound on. Signatures is upping the ante with extra TVs and a "ballot box" sampler plates for four (4) parties: Democratic, Republican, Greens, and Independents. Executive Chef Bryan Voltaggio of Charlie Palmer Steak is tuning their flat screen and additional TVs in the lounge most likely into CNN while he serves "bipartisan bar plates" ($12) with a lobster corn dog and oyster po’ boy sandwich for John Kerry supporters and a petite burger and Florida rock-shrimp ceviche taco for George W. Bush supporters -- with Texas and Massachusetts wines by the glass.Previous articles: Elections West: First Drinks on Mary Sue & Susan Elections East: East-West Special Politics, Chefs & Elections Charlie Palmer Ties as Washington's No. 1 Steakhouse Charlie Palmer: Bipartisan Turf Surfs the Hill Politics, Billboards & Champagne Politics, Chefs & Billboards |
