Todd English: Childrens Oscars (Update)

Earlier this month, his online Journal read: "Then from one coast to another, I am off to Hollywood, CA for none other than the Oscars! I will be cooking the dinner for the post ceremony Governors Ball. Now on Oscar night, it clarifies: Then from one coast to another, I am off to Hollywood, CA for none other than the Oscars! I will be cooking for the Children Uniting Nations Oscar Party. [emphasis added in both quotes] "O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!" thought I -- until I read the fine print in the invitation as it appeared online: Feauturing the world's most celebrated chefs and their special culinary talents So, it turns out, Todd will be not be the only chef cooking for the 2005 Children Uniting Nations' Oscar Party but rather is joining others, including his Cooking Under Fire comrade-in-arms Ming Tsai and a slew of fellow Italian chefs like Roberto Donna, Cesare Lanfranconi, and -- guess who? -- Rocco DiSpirito! Now, I know many people, chefs and others, make such indirect, over-glorifying PR statements, as if "so-and-so" is the only star at a multi-starred event, but since Todd is making a clarification in his Journal, he could clearer still. Instead, it still feels "slithy"... Furthermore, memory serves me right that The Factory is the site of one of Wolfgang Puck's handful of failed restaurants, Eureka (see Super Chef, pp. 18-19, 21, and mentioned in Wolfgang's cookbook Wolfgang Puck: Adventures in the Kitchen). So, perhaps this whole "Governors Ball" miscommunication is really just a Freudian slip. Perhaps the whole mix-up is just so much "Puck envy" and rather "outgrabed." Happy Oscars, everyone!
