Applause for Gamal Aziz and Tom Kaplan

By JULIETTE ROSSANT Gamal Aziz impressed me from the very first time I met him at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas several years ago to interview him about Tom Colicchio for Super Chef. We discussed everything from the transformation of the MGM with more impressive restaurants to the politics in his native Egypt. So I am not surprised that he was honored with the Nevada Hotelier of the Year award at the 26th annual Las Vegas International Hotel & Restaurant Show. On that same visit I also interviewed the lynch pin of Wolfgang Puck's fine empire, Tom Kaplan, who received the Nevada Restaurateur of the Year award. This architecture enthusiast turned restaurateur has been with Wolfgang since the early days at Spago Hollywood. From managing one restaurant, he was able to grow with the expanding restaurant empire of Wolfgang Puck. Congratulations to them both. (Click here to read the full article in The Las Vegas Sun.)
