Rachael Ray: A Few Days Later
By JULIETTE ROSSANT Representatives of the forthcoming Every Day With Rachael Ray magazine, announced in April 2005, have told superchefblog that the magazine's launch has been postponed from August 30 to October 25, 2005. Namesake Rachael Ray, host of three Food Network programs, has teamed with Reader's Digest to publish this new food lifestyle magazine (see previous article), "dedicated to helping readers have fun every day cooking and enjoying delicious food," including advice on food destinations and entertaining, and traveling around the country to meet people who love food. Although Every Day With Rachael Ray will be newsstand driven, Reader's Digest is not leaving any money on the table. Last May, Christine Guilfoyle joined as the magazine's publisher, responsible for leading sales and marketing of what RD is calling "the most significant magazine start-up to date for Reader's Digest US." Ms. Guilfoyle comes from Better Homes and Gardens, where as Advertising Director she was generated over 2,000 advertising pages 2003-2004 and brought onboard 15 sponsors in the "Better Home, Better Living" contest which generated an additional $12M in incremental advertising dollars and sponsorship fees. Guilfoyle has also worked at People, TV Guide, Southern Living, and Reed Meeting Group. So, it looks like Every Day With Rachael Ray will come a few days later than expected: let's see what they're serving up! I see disaster, overkill to the highest degree. There is a such a thing as too much Rachael Ray.
Best of luck to her though, I am a big fan.
