| By JULIETTE ROSSANT What: Save New Orleans Cocktail Hour Date: this evening, September 12, 2005 Time: 5:00-7:00 p.m. Where: NATIONWIDE PARTICIPANTS The intended recipients are New Orleans food & beverage industry workers, and the event has been organized by the Museum of the American Cocktail and Southern Comfort's Tales of the Cocktail. The money raised from selling cocktails like the Hurricane, Obituary Cocktail and the more traditional Mint Julep and Pimms Cup (click here for recommended cocktails) will be donated to a tax-deductible relief fund established by the Museum of the American Cocktail, and administered by Windows of Hope (the charity set up after 9/11 for the vaporized Windows on the World restaurant) and Alex Brennan of Commander's Palace in New Orleans. It must be a really easy and popular thing to do, because so many people are mentioning (i.e., recommending?) it: Associated Press, WWL TV New Orleans, WABC Radio (New York), USA Today, Times-Picayune NOLA, The Washington Post (twice), New York Daily News, Sante Magazine, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Seattle Weekly, and at least as far as England in The Guardian. Service organizations are supporting the event -- like the all-important Drink At Work.com, not to mention some of the larger bloggers including Gawker, Wonkette, BaristaNet.com, Metroblogging NYC, There are even Craiglist queries like this one from San Francisco (click here).
