Restaurants for Relief: September 27
By JULIETTE ROSSANT ![]() Mark your calendars for Tuesday, September 27, 2005, to eat out at restaurants participating in Restaurants for Relief. According to Share Our Strength (SOS), already 800 restaurants are participating, with more joining everyday. SOS allows individual restaurants to decide how much they earmark for donations. Some restaurants are giving 10% of the evening's revenue, others as high as 100%. Of the funds raised, 100% will go to support community grantees, specifically food banks in Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, and Texas. Super chefs participating include:

If you can't make dinner, you can still make a donation (click here).Share Our Strength (SOS), OpenTable.com, and Windows of Hope have organized this nationwide event to raise money to support SOS's Hurrican Relief Fund (formerly the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund, renamed in anticipation of Rita and other potential hurricanes for the remainder of this season). Other partners include the Council of Independent Restaurants of America (CIRA), Food and Wine Magazine, the Anthony Spinazzola Foundation, and the James Beard Foundation. The gala organizing committee includes Daimler Chrysler, David and Diane Bradt, DLA Piper Rudnick Cary Gray, Jay McGonigle and the Corporate Executive Board, and Jeanne and Steve Robinson.
