St. Patrick's: Cat Takes Hat
By JULIETTE ROSSANT ![]() It seems that Cat Cora has already taken the hat for this year's St. Patrick's Day, at least according to The Clarion Ledger in an article entitled "Cat in the (Chef's) Hat." In fact, they are so happy to have the first female from Iron Chef America -- who happens to be a Jackson, Mississippi, native -- lead the 2006 Mal's St. Paddy's Parade that they have created a special Dr. Seuss-tinged theme for her, focusing on a poem dedicated to her: I sat there with Sally. The paper quoted Cat as saying, "Being from Jackson, I know how big the parade is. It's huge! And this is a huge honor. I didn't even hesitate." Although she grew up in Jacksonville, this year marks the very first time she has done more than spectated: now, she is the center spectacle. "Besides that, she's sassy and funny and has the perfect personality and spirit for the job," Daily said. "And maybe if we're all good, she'll cook for us, too."
