Super Chef asked prominent women chefs around the country for their reaction to the recent news that Chef Anne-Sophie Pic had received a third star from Michelin. She is the first woman chef to win a third star in 56 years (see previous article).

Mary Sue Milliken told Super Chef:
Mary Sue Milliken, courtesy of he Culinary TrustI'm thrilled that a young French women has earned 3 stars. It's wonderful and I bet she's pretty happy because of the family history.

You know, my feeling has always been that the rating system ITSELF is based on such male-dominated criteria that women have never been good candidates to earn the top honors. Maybe now the Michelin system is incorporating more universally inclusive standards so that women-owned and operated places (usually less stuffy and formal, more accessible menu...) will shine, too? A girl can always HOPE!
