Last December, Iron Chef Cat Cora, co-founder and president of Chefs for Humanity, visited the Central American countries of Nicaragua and Honduras in the aftermath of Hurricane Felix. Even though Chefs for Humanity was founded in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, it is committed to making a difference around the world.

Chefs for Humanity is appealing for help in raising funds to support the mission of the organization and new programs it has initiated. These include:

* Partnering with We Can! to help educate underserved families across America about how to make better food choices and lead a healthier lifestyle;
* Working with the World Food Program to help the people of the Wawa Boom region of Nicaragua and Honduras recover from the ravages of Hurricane Felix, and rebuild a sustainable agricultural program that produces the food they need for survival;
* Helping the residents of the Lukulu region of Zambia with basic food needs like milk and staples.

Chefs for Humanity is hoping to raise $30,000 immediately to help with Spring fundraising efforts. Cat is asking for $1 a day from anyone who can afford it.
Each day we enjoy the abundance of America. Each day we use the fruits of our labor to put food on our tables and sustain our lives. For the next thirty days, wont you help us do extend that abundance to people in need? Wont you use some of the fruits of your labor to help sustain the lives of the people of Wawa Boom and the Lukulu Region?
Click here if you can help.

Chefs and restaurateurs certainly must be among the most charitable and giving people on the planet. Local anti-hunger efforts, as well as food-oriented fundraiers for all sorts of causes, would be nowhere without their generosity.
