Wouldn’t it be nice to fly Dad to some tropical island and let him loll on the beach, ride waves with the kids, and eat at a terrific restaurant serving island cuisine?
Why not skip all that sand and fly to the Nation’s Capital instead. You can still get the best island cuisine – without the sunburn. Puerto Rico’s premier chef, Pikayo Restaurant‘s Wilo Benet, will be at Mio Restaurant cooking up his amazing Puerto Rican Cuisine from June 9 to June 16th, including a special Father’s Day brunch.
Super Chef was a guest at Pikayo (click here for the review). Here are some of the dishes he will be preparing:
Spicy Sofrito and Peruvian Yellow Chile Tuna Tartar with yogurt and cucumbers; Octopus with green apples, ripe plantains, tomatoes, watercress and oregano vinaigrette; Mini Bistec Sandwiches with aioli mayo ketchup and haystack fries; Corned Beef Sherry Stew with cream cheese, ripe plantain omelet flutes, and arugula; Poached Eggs with morcilla sausage, sauce creole and Parisienne potatoes; Marinated Swordfish with red wine onion compote and spicy yuzu emulsion, as well as Kurobuta Pork Cheeks with polenta and lomo de pata negra. Brunch will conclude with seasonal desserts such as Mango Terrine with raspberries, and the Tarragon and Star Anise Pineapple Croissant Bread Pudding with coconut sauce.
Wilo Benet is one of the most creative, charismatic, and energetic chefs anywhere. Catch him in DC or in Puerto Rico.
