Bobby Flay with Chrysler: Not First
By JULIETTE ROSSANT ![]() Well, The Wall Street Journal came up a day late and a dollar short yesterday when it paraded Bobby Flay. Bobby was a feature attraction for Chrysler Group at this week's Detroit Auto Show. In a pun-ladened presentation called "Recipe for Success"with Chrysler CEO Tom LaSorda, Bobby cooked up dishes to match Chrysler's brand names: a chocolate layer cake for the smooth Chrysler brand and a pork tenderloin with mango salsa and chili peppers for the Dodge brand. Chrysler introduced its Swivel 'n Go seating system with swivel chairs that can be turned 180 degrees so the second- and third-row seats are facing, with a removable table between them. Now, Americans can watch video or listen to music while they eat their dinner in their cars – you get the kitchen only in a camper. ![]() Why Bobby? He is a well know Food Network celebrity, now branching out around the country in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. He has a pretty actress wife to boot (see previous article). And he is well know for barbeque, one of American families favorite foods. Still, Bobby is only the second major chef to turn car salesman -- in less than a year. Last year, Lincoln trumpeted Rocco DiSpirito (see previous article)? The big, unasked question arising from Bobby's story with Chrysler: whom will Honda and Toyota choose?
